DAC’s GENESYS solution including the GEN-X EFB provides Airlines a complete and total system solution for the paperless cockpit.  The system includes EFB hardware, EFB software, electronic chart data, Gatelink, server software, and a cabin surveillance system.  Each component of the system is designed to get the most from the rest of the interconnected components.  The benefit for airlines in this total system approach is a total solution that is far more capable than a compilation of separate pieces. 

 When DAC first set out to design the best EFB solution for airlines we realized that in order to make the system very automated and very easy to use we needed to provide a better alternative for chart data and the charting user interface.  DAC has formed an alliance with MAPTECH to provide worldwide chart data specifically tailored for airline and corporate use. GENESYS provides a consistent simple and straight forward user interface that controls ALL functions of the EFB including charting.  This approach has better pilot acceptance due to the easier operation.  Easier operation means reduced training cost. Best of all, the MAPTECH  X-CHARTS are just a fraction of that of the incumbent chart data supplier.

 GEN-X, the EFB hardware component of the GENESYS solution is also unique.  GEN-X was specifically designed for airline use.  This design means that in addition to meeting the basic requirements set out in AC120-76A for a class 2 EFB GEN-X has much more.  We designed and built GEN-X as avionics including additional testing and certification beyond the basic class 2 requirements.  DO160, FAR 25, DO178B (FMS 429 interface) are just a few of the tests performed.  Unique power logic monitors aircraft buss status to power the system up & down & provide internal battery backup without having to worry about the crew forgetting to flip a power switch at termination.  A special high altitude sealed & hardened hard drive provides 40 GB of non volatile memory.   This design provides  a solution that is rugged, reliable and has plenty of room to grow.  GEN-X is certified to Class 2B.   GEN-X is scalable for future enhancements.  "
